A leadership meeting of the Association of Professional Theaters of Serbia was held yesterday at the National Theater of Timok Region “Zoran Radmilović”, where the selectors report for the 59th Festival of Professional Theaters of Serbia “Joakim Vujić”, which will be held in Zaječar from May 8 to 15, was adopted.

Festival selector Goran Ibrajter has chosen a total of seven plays that will compete at this prestigious festival, and one of them is the play from the National Theater in Nis, “A Dream of Homeland” written by Ivan Velisavljević, directed by Milan Nešković, which will be performed on May 13.

“Again, a tavern, this time in some rural place, and again losers, these fanatical lovers of Šaban Šaulić’s music.” The performance abounds in Šaban’s songs, and the actors from Niš proved to be their, to say the least, worthy interpreters. However, the director avoids the trap of making the play ostentatious and takes the necessary ironic deviation in building its overall atmosphere. Against the background of this ironic deviation are the artistic elements of the play – the scenography by Marija Kalabić and the costumes by Biljana Grgur. All this makes the viewer feel as if he has found himself in some kind of Serbian Makonda inhabited by a bunch of weirdos and half-witted people. The performance of actors from Nis brings a series of bravura achievements,” said the Festivals’ selector in his report.
