The play Gypsies Are Found in Heaven  got created in collaboration with Nada Stanojević and it is based on the short story Makar Čudra by Maksim Gorki. The author built “his” Roma charaters  following an unusual romantic love between Rada and Zobar through the vast steppes of Russia. Desimir and Nada’s wish was to enrich the Roma people in the story with Roma camps without the humble or the week, where there are people who love life, freedom, singing, playing. Those kind of Roma people can only “find themselves near heavenˮ. The Earth is too small for them to stay on.
Russian traditional Roma music, full of explosive passion urging one’s heart and the body dance to it, enriches this incomparable love story placing it alongside Romeo and Juliet.
