The National Theater of Nis announces the performance of fragments from the musical “Gypsies are Found near Heaven”, for September 9, starting at 8:30 pm, on the Summer Stage in the Fortress. Herewith, we will continue to perform shows in the open space in September 2020.

The play is based on the short story “Makar Cudra”, by Maksim Gorki, directed by Desimir Stanojevic.

About the show:

Gorky built “his” Gypsies following the unusual romantic love of Rada and Zobar through the vast steppes of Russia. Our wish was to supplement his Gypsies with rugs in which there are no humble and weak, where there are people who love life, freedom, song, dance. Such gypsies can only “be found near heaven”. The country is too small for them.

Russian gypsy traditional music, full of charge, to which both heart and body dance, completes this unrepeatable love story and places it side by side with Romeo and Juliet.

The ticket price is 300 dinars and can be purchased every day at the theater box office from 10 am to 8 pm, on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm, as well as on the day of the play on the Summer Stage in the Fortress, from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Entrance to the show is possible only with the use of protective masks
